We now have only ONE effective branch of government: the judiciary. The executive and legislative branches are allowed to make mundane laws (ie - making sure judges get paid by the taxpayers, for example) but beyond that, they are nothing more than mere window dressing. All power and control is in the hands of the judiciary these days.
If Terri dies from Greer's cruel and unusual death sentence, she will be the second woman who died as a result of his rulings. Read about the first in this article.
While you're at it, look at this information.
I would say that Greer should be impeached but an impeachment would probably just be overruled with a statement about separation about powers. Indeed, there is a separation of powers. The executive and legislative branches of government have been SEPARATED from their Constitutionally granted powers.
We must pray for a miracle now to save Terri Schiavo.

I agree whole heartedly with you. I too have blogged for Terri. I really hate to correct you, especially since you are such a great writer. However in the interest of accuracy I must.
The 8th Amendment to the US Constitution does not deal with this subject. It is the Abolishment of Slavery. The references to the Constituion you are looking for are as follows:
Article 3;Section One
"The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish........"
Article 3,Section two gives explicit rights to Congress to intervene in State cases as much as enforcing the right of a case to be heard by the US Appellate Courts. It says: "... In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make."
The 14th Amendment: Section 1~ .....No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws..........14th Amendment: Section 5~ The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Thanks very much! No problem on wanting to correct me. It's always good to point out something if you think it may be incorrect.
But, I'm wondering if when you talked about the 8th Amendment, you really meant the 14th Amendment? The 8th Amendment deals with cruel and unusual punishment (in my opinion, that's what Terri received), not slavery. (Although, I think that slavery is CLEARLY cruel and unusual punishment.) The 8th Amendment was part of the Bill of Rights, which were added to the Constitution even before the birth of Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln was born in 1809 and the Civil War ended in 1865).
